Melanie Pérez Rivera, Esq.
Melanie is the principal and founder of Portico 21 Corporation, focusing on data privacy and cybersecurity law and consulting services. She is admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico. Also, she earned the Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) credential through the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). For the tenure January 2023 - December 2024, she served as the Co-Chair of the IAPP KnowledgeNet Puerto Rico Chapter.

Melanie has 10 years of experience representing companies across multiple industries, including airports, banks, private equity funds, telecommunication companies, and critical infrastructure businesses. Her practice also includes counseling on consumer privacy-related regulatory matters, GDPR, CCPA, GLBA, FTC Safeguards Rule, HIPAA, incident response, cyber insurance preparedness, and defense on breach-related regulatory proceedings and litigations.
